She was the first human voice that my ears ever heard. She brought me into this world. She cared for me and nurtured me. While patiently waiting for me to drop off to sleep, she rocked me all night when I was sick, if that’s what it took. She kept me fed, clothed and safe. She praised me when I did something right and she corrected me when I was wrong. She faithfully brought me to church every week so that I could learn about the only thing that really matters in this life, Jesus and His saving grace. She taught me how to pray. She showed me the blessing found in serving othersShe taught me many life lessons and prepared me for my launch into adulthood. She was there for all the firsts…

She taught me many life lessons and prepared me for my launch into adulthood. She was there for all the firsts… first word, first step, first day of school, first tooth lost, first time diving off of a diving board, first scraped knee, first time going off to camp, first time for a doctor or dentist visit, first time riding a bike, first school play, first time going to Brownies and Girl Scouts, first time roller skating, first time being sent to the principal’s office (no wait that had to be one of my siblings) first piano recital, first dance, first time being elected to a service club, first time marching on drill team, first time being elected to Student Council or becoming a class officer, first prom, graduation, first time leaving for college, graduation, first time having a Top 5 radio hit, first platinum record, first time having a song sung on The Billy Graham Crusades, first time producing a TV series, first time authoring a book, having cancer twice, and her favorite first… when I married James Walchle and became a wife, a mom and a Grammy! (I’m pretty sure she loves Jim more than she loves me… hey- that can’t be right!;-)
For all of the love, laughter, tears, highs, lows, ups, downs, victories, defeats, successes, failures, good, bad and ugly, she was there. I am grateful God gave her to me. Just want to say thank you! Happy Mother’s Day, Mommie! I love you, gigantic! xoxoxox, D
