I am thankful for so many things: For my Heavenly Father, who loves me so much He sent His only Son, Jesus, to take my sin upon himself and paid on my behalf the penalty I owed, providing forgiveness that I never deserved for my inexhaustible list of sin and redemption for which I was helpless and hopeless to achieve by my own efforts. I am thankful for Jesus, my Savior and Lord for His unconditional love.
I am thankful God has allowed me the honor and incomprehensible joy of becoming a wife, a mom and a Grammy and to have the chance to realize what it feels like to walk in those shoes. I am thankful for my wonderful, treasure of a husband, family and extended family for all of the joy, love, smiles and laughter, impossible to find anywhere else.
I am thankful for my loyal and exceptional friends with whom I do life, the good, the bad, the ugly, the victories and defeats. I am thankful for your courage to tell me the truth when I’ve been too blind to see, hold me accountable when I’ve been too prideful to hear, pray for me no matter what, love me like your gettin’ paid (as Babbie says;-) and lock arms with me to continue the journey. This is what God meant by family of God.
I am thankful for my church and the freedom to worship. I am thankful to be an American.
I am thankful for shelter, food, clothing and that I get to make my living as a writer. I am thankful for eyes to see the beauty of all that God has created, ears to hear laughter, music and I love you, too, a nose to smell roses, the salt air ocean-side and Starbucks coffee, a mouth to speak words of life, taste culinary pleasures and to kiss my sweetie, hands to touch the faces of my grandchildren, arms for hugging, waving hello and good-bye and a heart to take in and pour out love.
I am thankful for memories, both those that have happened and those yet to be made. I am thankful for the ability to dream big dreams and that there is always something new to discover if we’re willing to lose sight of the shore.
I am thankful that God allowed me to overcome cancer, not once but twice and that I am still here on planet earth, today, to be able to say to Him… I am thankful.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! “ Give thanks to the Lord for He is good. His love endures forever. “ Psalm 118:1. Big hugs, D
